Flora Pizzeria is a relatively new Roman-style pizza place at Young and James South (ignore the Niagara Falls geotag). I can always use more pizza in my life and it had been on my list for a while. This is the type of place you kind of need to separate the quality from the price, then bring them together to determine the value. From a quality perspective, everything was top notch. The roni cups were actually roni cups (the amount of roni cup false advertising in town is astounding), the cheese was plentiful (never a given with premium pizza) and the sauce was light and not overpowering. You could tell the crust was made with care but it was a touch too crispy for my liking. 30 seconds less in the oven and it would have been bang on. On the price, 6.75 for a pepperoni slice is steep, no matter how you slice it (*rimshot*) and I always end up doing the math on what that would buy me at say @theoriginalpizza on the mainstream end and or @castellicucina on the premium end. I’m not saying it’s too much, I’m saying the quality is great and be aware that the price is above average. Overall I’d definitely recommend a try, as the barrier to entry is low and there is so much other fun to be had in that neighbourhood. -Mush

After last night’s Ticats game, I just feel like taking a nice drive on country backroads and eating my feelings. Well I can do both of those at Burger Barn just down the road in Oshweken. Todd and I are both huge fans of western New York style stingers, and this is one of the only I know of in the area. It was a mountain of shaved beef, Buffalo chicken fingers and Monterey Jack cheese which complemented each other perfectly. The choice of ciabatta as the bun was curious; I think a sub bun would have held the delicious meat in a little better. And the fresh cut fries were perfectly cooked and plentiful. So take a drive, get your mind off the game and eat your face off on this crisp fall day. -Mush
