The next stop on Concession Street is Eng’s Chinese. Here’s my philosophy with Chinese restaurants. You need to order like $200 worth of food your first time, ordering as much as you can from the menu. It’s the cost of doing business. And you’ll find out whats good and what isn’t, because nobody in town does everything well and there’s a ton of inconsistency. Thankfully Todd already bit that bullet, so this time we were able to focus on their standouts, which are cheese wontons (a close second to Mr Dumpling and breaded chicken balls, which Todd hyped and they didn’t disappoint. Unfortunately we didn’t have the stomach space for bacon fried rice but it’s bacon fried rice so it should be in your order as well. They also bring your food to the door of their restaurant for you to take, so it kind of feels like you’re doing a drug deal, if that’s your thing. -Mush

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m cheap. Which means that even though I LOVE pasta, I very rarely get it at restaurants because I start doing the math in my head about what it should cost. Which I GET is stupid and nonsensical and that food cost is irrelevant. Especially when I order something like this carbonara from Caro that was outstanding and worth every bloody penny. The pasta was cooked perfectly, there was an ample amount of pancetta, it was creamy but not runny, and it was big enough for two meals. And it reminded me why Caro is one of our favourite restaurants in the city. -Mush
